At a time when other companies are all shrinking their pro staffs and cutting back retainers, Lamiglas has struck again, picking up 3-time FLW Angler of the Year David Dudley in an exclusive rod use agreement. Dudley, of Lynchberg, Virginia, is not only the biggest gun on the FLW Tour, he is, in fact, ranked #1 on the Bassfan.com World Rankings–25 points ahead of that guy with initials for a name.
Earlier in the week, Lamiglas of Woodland, Wash. also added Justin Lucas to its stable of outstanding bass anglers/instructors. Getting these two prominent anglers on board is evidence of the positive energy and forward thinking of the popular rod maker.
Critical to making the jump to Lamiglas, said Dudley, was his finding a rod that meets his requirements in the challenging national competition. In today’s press release he was quoted as saying, “These rods are light, sensitive and most importantly strong. As anyone who knows me will attest, I have a very hard hook-set and a good strong rod is a must. The fact that the rods are light and sensitive is a bonus.”
Talking yesterday to John Posey, national sales manager for Lamiglas, it was obvious, he could barely hide his pleasure in being able to announce this huge signing. More than that, he believes the latest rod line-up puts Lamiglas in the elite class of bass fishing rods. David Dudley signing on (along with Lucas) is evidence the company is ready to take on all comers.
In the release Posey said, “We’ve really put a lot of time and effort into our new line of bass rods. The technology in these rods is superior to anything we have made in the past. With our Infinity line, built with the new 3M Powerlux technology and the XP with new thinner diameters and faster actions, we believe we have rods that every bass angler is going to love. The Excel line is not only a cost effective option, but they are also a great rod for anglers at any level for dozens of fish species.”
