I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that in addition to several brick & mortar Halls of Fame, (IGFA, National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame, San Diego Hall of Champions and Bass Fishing Hall of Fame) there is at least one cyber bass fishing Hall, and it’s “located” right here in the Golden State.
Leftcoastbass.com is soliciting votes (one per IP) among a list of 15 candidates that it has posted. The names are all recognizable, though if you really know your California bass fishing history, you’ll note a couple of gaping holes. Still, the intention of the site is to induct three in its first go-around, and that is a reasonable approach.
Personally, I would prefer entry into a Hall at the end of one’s career–when all the aspects of a lifelong performance can be assessed. We can all point to “heroes” who did not maintain their integrity, so I think it’s probably safer to wait. Still, I recognize many have the desire to give recognition, though usually, we don’t get a vote. That’s what makes this one different.
I’m probably not supposed to say so, but when I checked after casting my ballot yesterday, I found Mike Folkestad (correct spelling) was the leading vote-getter, following by the one-and-only Dee Thomas.
I think the time is winding down to cast your vote, so if you’re interested, this would be a good time to log in. Scroll down a bit on the page to find the list of candidates.
