True, I parked closer to Anglers Marine than I ever have before. I could also make my way down most any aisle without a GPS.
But the 2009 version of Bass-A-Thon felt good–there was an energy in the building as fishermen began looking at the swimbait season, the reopening of Diamond Valley Lake and the implications of a new WON Bass tournament season.
And while the fall bass season was marked by two exhibitions this year, there were faces from up and down the state present. With Ultimate Bass Radio host Kent Brown acting as show MC, Dave Gliebe of Stockton on stage and Black Dog baits prominently displayed, there was a nice pan California feel.
The presence of Scott Martin, son of legendary Roland Martin, plus Greg Hackney the winner of the Forrest Wood Cup, California’s best Brent Ehrler, Mike Folkestad, Bill Siemantel, Rich Tauber, Gabe Bolivar John Kerr, Randy McAbee, Larry Hopper, Darius Arberry, Dave Nollar, and powerhouse co-angler Roy Desmangles either on stage or on the floor, it was celebrity-filled crowd.
In fact, I’m afraid I’m going to leave out some prominent names because there were so many to chat with, and frankly, so much to see.
Regardless, there is still another day to get out there, and I think it will be worth your time.
