LATE CORRECTION: Brent just emailed to say he would not be in the Northern California Bass Jam.
The upstart Bass Jam and the grandaddy of bass fishing exhibitions, the Bass-A-Thon, are set for this month, Nov. 14-15 and Nov. 21-22, respectively, with many of the top names in the game appearing. This year’s number one angler on the California Top 40 Bass Anglers List, Brent Ehrler, will actually appear at both events, a tribute to just how big the Redlands angler has become in professional fishing.
At the Jam at the Outdoor Pro Shop in Cotati you’ll also see Bassmasters Classic champ Skeet Reese (#2 on the Top 40) as well as others from the “Big List” including Cody Meyer of Redding (#4) Justin Kerr of Simi Valley (#5), Mike Andrews of Discovery Bay (#31) and Ish Monroe of Hughson (#38).
The Bass-A-Thon, like the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, has a more national scope with its line-up, choosing Greg Hackney, the Forrest Wood Cup winner from Louisiana, TV’s Scott Martin from Florida, and then pulling one out of the mausoleum: Dave Gliebe of Stockton fame.
Others from the Top 40 at Anglers Marine include three-time U.S. Open winner Mike Folkestad (#12), BBZ author, big bass angler and lure designer Bill Siemantel (#14) plus Poway’s monster bass buster Mike Long (#17).
