better fish hereHey, it’s Monday, a holiday and nobody’s looking at the web much, but I got these shots from Brian Day in the OC from one of his recent trips.

It looks like I need to be heading in the direction of Lake Perris–and now it’s set up for Thursday–this time with Dave Schreck, another angler who has been sticking them. Dave, if you don’t know, has also been putting the hammer on some big Silverwood bass this year–but what the heck, I can only fish one lake at a time.

Word is there is a bit of a topwater bite first thing, but most of the fish are down there in 25 to 30 feet still, and the drop-shot worked for Brian, while Dave has been getting them on Carolina creatures or the Flick Shake. Either way, the size of the fish–many in the 2- to 3-pound class, plus some fatter ones than that, make it a good idea.

Brian DayThis other photo that Brian sent gives you an idea of the possibilities.

Dave, too, had another good idea: It’s not necessary to grind it out all day in the heat! I like that.

BTW: If you have a photo of a fish or two you are proud of, and you don’t mind sharing the straight scoop on the catching, I’ll find a place to post ‘em here.

If you have to hold on to some secrets in front of a tournament, I understand, but don’t mislead the viewers here. (I know we’re all paranoid, but not everybody on the planet is entered into that contest….)
